Private lessons available for students!!

Anyone interested in studying privately on his or her instrument please contact Ms. Spangler.  The Butler Community Arts School has partnered with the Shortridge band department to offer private lessons to students at a discounted cost.  Lessons will be given by Butler University music students at the rate of $10 per half hour.  Students will meet with their private instructor once a week after school.  We already have several students taking advantage of this great opportunity; I hope you can too!

Holiday Concert Date Change

Parents and students please note the change of date for the holiday concert!

The concert will be at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2009.  The concert will still be presented in the Caleb Mills Auditorium at Shortridge Magnet High School.

All students should be sure to wear a White shirt with a collar, Black pants or skirt, Black shoes, and Black socks.

Drumline will march in Veterans Day Parade!!

The Shortridge drumline will march in the 2009 Veterans Day Parade on Novemeber 11, 2009!  The drumline will be accompanying a color guard provided by the Indianapolis Fire Department.  The parade steps off at 11:30am downtown.  Please come and support the line if you can.

Please note the other activities the drumline will be participating in as well below:

Saturday October 10..... Band and drumline to perform with Marian University Band at MU football game. Tickets are $5 and game time is noon


Tuesday November 10...Band, Choir, Orchestra Veterans Day Concert in Caleb Mills auditorium at 6pm

Wednesday November 11...Drumline with IFD fire fighter color guard to march in Veterans Day Parade in downtown Indy 11:30am

Wednesday November 11...Drumline to perform at the IPS BOA marching band tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium time TBA (evening), but I will have some free tickets for this if anyone is interested!

Thursday or Friday November 12/13.... Drumline to participate in Percussive Arts Society Clinic/Festival at Lucas Oil Stadium

Tuesday December 8.....Band, Choir, Orchestra Holiday Concert in Caleb Mills auditorium at 6pm

Welcome all new band members to the NEW Shortridge band blog!  I am so excited for all the new things we will be doing this year.  As you know we have already begun drumline rehearsals and will start pep band soon.  Please use this blog as a place to consult for information about performances, rehearsals, and any other pertinent information regarding our bands.
